Chisum High Students Qualify for National Beta Convention
The Chisum High School Beta Club had 38 students qualify for competition at the National Beta Convention to be held in Nashville, Tennessee in July. The students competed last weekend at the State Beta Convention in Grapevine against all classifications of schools from across the state. Grace Hawthorne has been elected as the upcoming Texas State Beta Secretary, and will now also campaign at the National Convention. Her campaign skit took 1st place, as well. The Show Choir team of Adrian Norris, Jacob Peralta, Jayden Bradberry, Brooke Bridges, Carly Bell, Brylea Marshall, Serena Whatley, Jonathan Herron, Peyton Holland, Jehna Nesbit, Matthew Griffith, Kaley Eubanks, Jacie Sanders, Kylie Sides, Vanessa Dyck, Maddison Shires, Emma McCarter, Sophia Rhea, and Reagan Frey placed 3rd, and have been invited to perform in the opening ceremonies in Nashville. The art department had a strong showing with five individual awards, a two-person team, and a group piece advancing. Members include Adrian Norris, Serena Whatley, Hayden Braziel, Carly Bell, Jacob Peralta, Brooke Bridges, Jeffrey Hurst, Kylie Sides, Jacie Sanders, Sophia Rhea, Jera Rutherford, Emma Estep, Grace Ballard, Jehma Nesbit, Jonathan Herron, Payden Erwin, and Matthew Griffith. The National Beta Club is an academic honor society based on the pillars of achievement, service, leadership, and character.
